She also has extensive experience performing hearing loss and tinnitus diagnostics as well as providing treatment using devices from all six major hearing aid manufacturers. She feels that the field of audiology is a great modality for helping others. Her patient-centered approach, combined with her love for human interaction, allows her to create an environment in which great care and service can be cultivated.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Trathen enjoys weightlifting and playing beach volleyball.
Because hearing loss develops gradually, it can take years to even notice a problem. Early intervention is key to successful treatment, so hearing tests are the best way to detect a hearing loss. A number of different tests are available for determining the type and degree of the loss – information that is crucial for coming up with a treatment solution.
About nine in ten patients with hearing loss can be helped by hearing aids. Today’s digital devices are smaller and more powerful than ever, and include many state-of-the-art features designed to improve comfort, convenience and clarity. The House Institute Hearing Health Centers carry a full lineup of devices from the industry’s leading manufacturers, with options for a vast array of lifestyles and budgets.
Tinnitus, often described as a ringing in the ears, affects approximately one in five Americans. This perception of sound may affect one or both ears, and can range from a minor nuisance to a constant distraction. Tinnitus is considered a symptom rather than a disease and is usually the result of an underlying condition. Fortunately, there are steps you can take to relieve the noise and improve your quality of life.
