Physician examining ear of female patient with an instrument.\" class=\"wp-image-9207\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>One of the signs of a torn or punctured eardrum is blood coming from the ear, in addition to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Pain or discomfort in the ears.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/househearing.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Hearing loss<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tinnitus (ringing in the ears).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Vertigo (spinning sensation).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Nausea\/vomiting.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/my.clevelandclinic.org\/health\/diseases\/15581-ruptured-eardrum-acutely-perforated-tympanic-membrane\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ruptured eardrum<\/a> may be caused by a foreign object in the ear or by barotrauma, which occurs due to rapid changes in air pressure like when taking off from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flylax.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">LAX<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"ear-infection\">Ear Infection<\/h2>\n\n\n<p>Ear infections also have the potential of causing blood to come from the ear. Ear infections are the result of inflammation in the ears, usually caused by a cold or allergies. This inflammation prevents fluid from draining, so it begins to grow bacteria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Symptoms include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/househearing.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Pain or pressure<\/a> in the ears.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Balance problems.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Trouble sleeping.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fever.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In severe cases, pusy or bloody drainage.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"scratch-or-pimple-in-the-ear-canal\">Scratch or Pimple in the Ear Canal<\/h2>\n\n\n<p>Just like anywhere else on your body, you can get a pimple or accidentally scratch yourself inside your ear canal. If the skin breaks in your ear canal, it can cause blood to drain out of your ears.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"head-trauma\">Head Trauma<\/h2>\n\n\n<p>If you fall or hit your head, it can cause a brain injury that leads to bleeding from your ears. If you notice blood coming from your ears after an accident that involves head trauma, seek medical help right away, as it may be a sign of bleeding around the brain.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"cancer-in-the-ear-canal\">Cancer in the Ear Canal<\/h2>\n\n\n<p>While extremely rare, it is possible that blood coming from the ear canal could be due to cancer. Additional symptoms include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Pain or pressure in the ear.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Headaches.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Facial pain or numbness.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Blurred vision.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"when-to-seek-medical-attention\">When to Seek Medical Attention<\/h2>\n\n\n<p>Unless you can identify that a scab or pimple is to blame for your bleeding ear, it\u2019s a good idea to seek medical attention right away, especially if you\u2019ve just experienced head trauma.
